When would VAT be applicable to me?

Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax on the consumption of goods and services in the economy.  SARS (South African Revenue Services) requires all businesses to register for VAT if the total value of taxable goods or services is more than R1 million in a 12-month period or is expected to exceed this amount.  You are required by law to be registered for VAT if your Annual Turnover is above R1 Million.
